Elders Evans, Harris, Jensen; Norma, Anita, Elder Pine; Paulina

FEBRUARY 14, 2009 SATURDAY

Today was our 42nd wedding anniversary and we got an early morning telephone call from Elder Ehlen wishing us a happy anniversary. What a thoughtful missionary. We celebrated it this morning by making cookies for the Valentine Party being held tonight. At 11:00 we went to the church to finish decorating and Anita Weiss and Norma Bachmann made lunch for us and the missionaries who helped. We got finished and went home to make some more cookies and at 3:00 we jumped onto the tram to go visit Suwang. When we got there she was asleep again so we didn’t wake her although the nurse said it would be ok. We felt she needed her rest to recuperate and heal more than a visit from us. Before we left home to visit Suwang, Elder Pine and Harris came over to borrow some books and do some planning for the Zone conference next Tuesday. On the way home we stopped at Migros to replenish our butter, eggs and flour supply because we used it all up making the cookies. We got home in time to finish baking the cookies then we packed up all the stuff (cookies, icing and salad) and trundled off to the party. After we got there I iced the cookies while Diana cut up the lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and cucumbers for the salad. Others brought potluck. Finally, everything was ready.

People started to come about 5:00 and by 5:45 there were enough there to start things rolling. I was asked to welcome everybody, which I did. A prayer was said and then the dancing began. These people over here really like to party, especially the younger people. The food was delicious, the company good, the music just right and everybody had a good time. In the middle of things the music stopped and the floor was cleared and Diana and I were escorted to center stage. The DJ, Brother Weiss, announced it was our 42nd wedding anniversary and that he was going to play a song in our honor. Not only was he going to play it, but he said we were going to have to dance to it too. Diana was a good sport about it all, but she did try to dance out the back door several times. With some effort I was able to guide/pull her back onto the floor. Finally other started to dance so we didn’t stick out like sore thumbs. It was nice of them to do that for us, but also totally unnecessary. The dance/party ended and after cleaning things up, we got home at 11:15. I would have liked to have had a little more study time on my lesson tomorrow, but it’s not going to happen. Good night.

Awwh, too bad we didn't see you ripp'n up the dance floor! We know you can! Happy 42nd! Tried to skype, but we knew you had the dance. Looks like people run around the dance floor, not dance. Maybe that is why they are so thin? We all love that you are together and lov'n life after 42 years! xoxoxo
