Sorry, no photos today; we'll make up for it tomorrow.

SEPTEMBER 11, 2009 FRIDAY

There was not a lot to report today other than we got an assignment for zone conference next Thursday. We were assigned to prepare and conduct a 25 minute workshop on chapter 5 in Preach My Gospel. The chapter is entitled, “What is the Role of the Book of Mormon.” Up until now, except for a few minor assignments, we’ve been able to just sit and enjoy the conferences, but now we’ll be worrying until this is over.

We didn’t get a lot done today, but we tried to make a few contacts and then we got dinner ready for Fabian and Charlotte who came this evening for dinner. We prepared pork steaks, sauteed onions and mushrooms, potatoes and gravy, steamed cauliflower & broccoli, green salad, fruit salad and then banana bread & ice cream for dessert. After dinner we played a game Charlotte brought which consisted of putting 10 different three dimensional wooden puzzles together. Next we played a board game Fabian brought which was fun, but hard to describe so I won’t make the attempt. And last we played Sequence which was hard to do because the game board was a 9" X 11" print from an email one of our daughters sent us. It seems like this evening wasn’t much of a missionary activity, but we felt it was worthwhile. They both live alone and yesterday each at different times wanted us to spend some time with them so we invited them over for the evening. Charlotte is a member of only six months and needs the contact for support. She has made a lot of progress and in a lot of ways, is one of our strongest members, but we’ll do all we can to fellowship her as long as we’re here. Fabian was less active for a couple of years and became active just as we arrived last year. They are both great people and have become dear friends, and it’s just good to be with them.

We got an email today from Ray & Aloa, Diana’s brother and sister-in-law, who got their mission call to Japan. They enter the MTC on November 9, 2009. That’s about all we know right now. We got a call from Peter & Daniela Martin at 10:00 tonight to tell us we need to be at their place in Dietlikon at 8:15 in the morning instead of a t 9:00. We are going with them to Appenzell tomorrow for a yodeling event in which Dianiela is participating with her yodeling club. That means we’ll have to be up way early to get there.

The tender mercy for today is that we get to put on the workshop which means we can decide what we’re going to do rather than being put on the spot in role plays etc.
