JULY 28, 2009 TUESDAY

No stress this morning because we didn’t have to be anywhere until 10:15 for district meeting. We needed to go over our assignments which was to talk about life’s lessons we’ve learned as it relates to marriage and just life in general. Diana talked mostly about marriage relationship and I talked mostly about life’s lesson in general. We also had another assignment Elder Carrier gave us last night over the phone that the ZL’s wanted for Zone Council on Wednesday. He asked us for four things. First, identify one positive attribute that our companionship has. Second, identify one attribute we need to work on. Third, discuss our relationship with ward members and how we work with them to further the missionary work. And fourth, list and give a short progress report on investigators and other people we are working with. It would have been nice to have had a little more time to work on it, but we turned in at district meeting what we could put together on such short notice. The first three were pretty simple, but the fourth needed a little time to write the progress report. The answer to the first is that we never give up. The answer to the second is better communication. This is the first district meeting with Elder Carrier as our leader. We miss Elder Norris, but we’ll get used to Elder Carrier as our leader. We already know him since he was Elder Norris’s companion. We met his new companion today, Elder Vincent, whose only been out in the field a week and a half.

We spent part of the afternoon going over our member list and getting everything updated as well as identifying people we want to visit tomorrow with Elders Pine and Richeson. The plan is for them to come over and get haircuts, have lunch, go over the member list and bring them up to speed and then go out visiting and contacting those we have identified to visit and/or contact. It should be a productive afternoon, if we can find anyone home.

Later in the afternoon Elders Pine and Richeson called to see if they could use our computer to send an email to Sister Klaumunzner at the mission home. It seems they are a day late in getting their article written for the Mission newsletter and, rather than spend the time going to the mission home, it was easier and more time efficient to write it and send it email. We think they also wanted to avoid Sister Klaumunzner who is a little unhappy with them for being late.

After they left we got our stuff together and left to find Barbara Pastore. For some reason we got mixed up and thought she may have moved because we sent Elders Pine and Middleton there some months ago and they told us that she had moved, that she wasn’t at the address any more. But something kept nagging at us until we had to go check for ourselves. We found the address and her name was on the doorbell, but she wasn’t home. We left a note asking her to call us so we could come meet her. We’ve never gotten a call from anyone we’ve left a note with, but we keep trying anyway.

We returned home and continued getting ready for tomorrow. We also baked the bread pudding mix our girls sent us some months ago. The last thing besides writing this journal entry was Elder Carrier called to get the last of our report verbally over the phone. Now it’s time to get to bed.
