MARCH 7, 2009 SATURDAY
Today the sun was shining all day for which we give a heartfelt thanks. First thing we got a call from George Wimalysuria to tell us Bishop Schwendener had been to see Darletta and will get her some help to solve her immediate needs and hopefully her legal problems. That was very good news. To finish up our replenishing the pantry and fridge I ran over to COOP to buy some hamburger and Diana wanted me to look for Kelloggs Rice Krispies. I loaded the hamburger in my cart and looked for the Rice Krispies and actually found some so I loaded in two boxes. As I was going up and down the aisles I noticed a familiar label on a very small bottle. The label read MIRACLE WHIP. The sign said it was a brand new product, and it was, because I’ve never seen or heard of it being sold in Switzerland. I didn’t buy any because I’ve still got some the Mascaro’s and Fabian brought us from the good ole USA. While I was in the store, Elder Pine called me to see if I knew where he could buy some ersatz coffee, the kind without caffeine in it like PERO or POSTUM for an investigator he’s teaching the Word of Wisdom. COOP didn’t sell any, at least I couldn’t find any. I also got a call from our DL, Elder Norris, giving us our district meeting assignments for next Tuesday. Mine is to bring the treats; Diana’s is to have the game she didn’t get a chance to do in the last meeting. I made it through the check stand and made it home when I got another call from Elder Pine. He wanted to know if he could bring his investigators over for Sunday lunch because after Sacrament meeting gets over at noon, the singles ward will be having their Sacrament meeting and fireside at 2:00. Their investigators will be going to both and they didn’t have anywhere to go for the two hours. Of course we told him we’d be glad to do that for them. It helps us feel useful and we like to be involved with teaching opportunities.
Diana made brownies for tomorrow and then we left to visit Suwang. It’s getting redundant to say that she is getting better, but it’s amazing to see how fast she has come back from the almost dead. We see improvement each day. While we were there, she exercised while laying in her bed. We told her Elders Pine and Harris need her to translate the lessons they teach to their Chinese investigators so they can understand them better. Suwang was excited to hear that because she’d really like to be a missionary. We left there and tried to find an address we haven’t been able to locate yet. Last time we didn’t have a building number, but since then a member said she thought it was #19. Even with the address and the questionable number, we weren’t able to find it. We got off at Bucheggplatz and walked up Bucheggstrasse to Milchbuch, but couldn’t find it. We’ll just have to write this one off unless new information turns up.
We had a little time before we had to have our salad at the wedding, so we rode on into Schwamendingen and this time went to Denners and then to the little Greek store just to see what we could find. Sister Weiss served us a Mexican dish of beans over rice when we decorated for the Valentine’s party and Diana has wanted to fix this dish ever since. She bought what she thought the ingredients were along with a couple of different kinds of cheeses and then we went home. We had just enough time to put the salad together and get to the wedding at the Church. I didn’t realize until half way through the reception that I had forgotten to put on a tie. Embarrassing! Although no one seemed to notice, or was too polite to mention it. The actual wedding took place in the chapel and with talks and everything, lasted about an hour. The reception took place in the cultural hall right after. They had invited a Swiss yodeling group to sing a few songs; we’ll post a clip on the blog. Right at the “I Do” part of the ceremony my cell phone rang; another embarrassing moment. I thought I had put it on silent, but for some reason, it just made it ring only half as loud. I quickly shut the thing off and acted as if nothing had happened.
I forgot to put in yesterday’s entry that Diana gave me a haircut that I desperately needed. Last night while decorating, Elder Evans noticed my haircut and said it looked really good. Diana does do a really good job.

It is going to get busier as the days progress, but I wanted to let you know that I love you both. We are so thankful you chose to serve. We are so blessed by your experiences. We keep you in our prayers always and hope people will listen to the best missionaries in the world!
