FEBRUARY 7, 2009 SATURDAY

Today we just wanted to stay in so I could try and get better for Sunday. I think I’ve turned the corner and should be good to go in the morning. At least I should be past the infectious stage and the coughing, sneezing and dripping. Last night I tried to take a long soak in the tub, but I knew I would be lucky to have enough hot water because our tank is so small. I turned on the hot water until the hot turned to cold and then used cold water to cool it down to where I could get in it. At that it was not near enough water to do the job right. However, I think it helped in the long run.

About noon Elder Pine called and asked if they could come use the computer to find an address and to burn off a couple of DVD’s of the Joseph Smith movie. We said OK and they said they’d come about 2:00. While Elder Pine was in the hospital on the IV and couldn’t eat anything for several days, he kept saying all he could think of was Diana’s hot chocolate and brownies. So Diana got busy and whipped up some brownies and had them and hot chocolate ready when they got here. Of course they hadn’t had lunch so Diana also cooked up some Minestroni soup and added a few extra things to make it better. It was all very delicious. We took the opportunity to lecture them about eating regular and told them we’re going to keep a close eye on them and maybe even include some surprise inspections. We gave them some simple recipes the can use to make some delicious meals really easy.

While the exchange rate was up we decided to make a quick trip into Schwamendingen to withdraw some money and pick up some apples, bread and a few other things. Later on came completing reports for tomorrow’s meeting, creating a sign-up sheet for the Valentine’s party and writing this journal. While in the process of doing these reports, we were SKYPE’d by Rebecca, Jared and Mack; what a nice surprise. We had tried a few times before, but hadn’t made contact. This time it worked. We are continually amazed at the technology that is available in today’s world. We had a good conversation for about forty-five minutes and it was almost like being home talking to them. Shortly after that we got a call from Brother Daehler, our ward mission leader, who said he was ill with the flu and wouldn’t be to the meeting in the morning. He asked us to have him excused.

It was fun getting to SEE and TALK to you. It reminded me of the PeeWee Herman telephone :)
