I forgot to download our journal entry onto the last blog entry before I posted it, so here it is.


DECEMBER 27, 2008 SATURDAY

We had two things to do today; first was to cook lunch for the zone leaders during their zone council meeting today and, second, was to go to a dinner appointment at Juerg & Ilene Mueller-Russo, Ilene’s sister visiting from Washington D.C. , their mother and Elders Ehlend and Evans. In between we studied German, read our Priesthood/RS lesson and went into Zentrum Glatt to buy gifts for the gift exchange tonight. Diana bought a roll of Zueri-Sacke, garbage sacks that you must legally put your garbage in so you can put it in the dumpster. I went for a bottle of raspberry vinegar salad dressing and a bottle of amaretto syrup flavoring. Everybody loved our presents, and especially the garbage sacks. They all loved the macadamia/white chocolate cookies we made too. The dinner was mushroom soup followed by make yourself tacos and/or taco salad, just like we do at home. Very yummy. Dessert was a half of pear covered with chocolate syrup, vanilla ice cream and a dab of whipped cream.

We got to the church at 10:30, put up the tables & chairs, set the tables and then waited until just the right time to put the pizzas in the oven to cook. They had six huge pizzas for twelve missionaries, but the oven would only hold two. We managed to work things around so four could cook at once. The other two went in after the missionaries had come out for lunch and we had taken the first four out to serve. By the time they polished off the first four, the last two were done. They only left three pieces which we brought home for later. Of course everything turned out just right. Afterwards we cleaned up while the missionaries went back into session.

While talking to Elder Gunther, we gave him a bag of hot chocolate drink mix that we had saved for him from the Luzern Bahnhof Display a couple of weeks ago. He asked us if we had seen any hand warmers because he was missing some. We told him we hadn’t. Later while we were shopping for gifts, we saw some hand warmers that are reusable so we bought him one. Next time we see him we’ll give it to him. Not very exciting today, but it’s always good to serve.
