NOVEMBER 2, 2008 SUNDAY

Prayer at 7:00 and away we go. Missionary Correlation Meeting at 8:00 was interesting. The WML Brother Daehler wasn’t there so George (I can’t say his last name because he’s from India or somewhere) conducted the meeting in English. Things were going along pretty good with the Elders going over their investigators and contacts. Just when it was my turn in came Pres. Matern and his wife along with the other people who join us after the first half of the meeting. George then changed from English to German so I was also obligated to give my report in German. I think I did pretty well, but it always makes me nervous to speak German in front of the mission president for some reason. I think I have made progress since the last time he was here.

This is the 2nd Fast Sunday for us here. It’s just like in our Canyon View Ward at home, if you don’t get up right away, you won’t have a chance to bear your testimony. There are no silent spells. Testimonies are just as fervent and heartfelt. I love Fast Sundays.

At 6:00 tonight three new converts told of their conversion stories at a fireside. All three are young men around 25 years of age. And the work of the gathering goes forward. By the way, last night we had so many caramel apples left over that we had to practically force missionaries and other people to take them home. This afternoon we got a call from Elder Pine asking us if we had any more. We told him we had three and he sounded disappointed we didn't have more. We told him we'd bring these to the fireside and also told him Elders Eland and Evans had a bunch. Elder Pine was way happy to get our three and he got 5 or 6 more from the other Elders. Elder Pine is from England so he'd never had real caramel before. I think he fell in love with the stuff. Diana is busy preparing her lesson for tomorrow’s FHE and she couldn't resist giving me an assignment too.

The Missionaries dumped several small pumpkins in our compost bin last night, leftovers from the Halloween party. You can’t find pumpkins bigger than an oversized softball. Anyway, I got to thinking of those pumpkins and decided to get one out on the way home from church and bake it for dinner. It was pretty good too. On the way back from the fireside we got the other two out and brought up to our apartment. No use letting them go to waste because they are good to eat and they are way expensive.

The AP’s and the DL’s want to do something together with us for P-day tomorrow. I think they want to go to the chocolate factory. First of the month and payday? Or maybe they’re hoping we’ll buy their chocolate for them. We’ll see. These missionaries are a fun, but dedicated group. With that, we’ll say good night.

district leaders and assistants to the presidents...to answer your question, bex. Hey, dad love the waste not want not attitude! No wonder the elders want to go with you, you sound like you are the life of the party and you could give them good pointers on how to do GQ's (golden questions) because it sounds like you do not let any opportunity go by.
